What do you live your life for? I don’t think it is a question most people ask themselves very often. They don’t think about the question, because they live their lives on a simple day to day basis without really thinking about why their doing what they’re doing, their just doing it. But if you are reading this then stop and ask yourself something, what is it that I am striving for in life. Because we all want something in life and we are all working for something in life.
Are you working for money? To make as much money as you possibly can so you can do all the things you always wanted to do. Do you strive for simply happiness? Simply being content with life and not really worrying about tomorrow, just happy for the things you have and the people you know. Do you strive mainly for fame and glory? Not so much as concerned with the money aspect, but you want to be popular and you really want to make a lasting impression of the world.
Now there are a lot of things people strive for. And some people who know Dr. J may be shocked I did not present a certain option which I will get into a minute. The thing is, it is important to know the reason your doing the things you are doing in life. The things you are striving for in life. And if you really stop and think about it, the things you are doing are things that you find important.
So another question, do you maybe strive for the things of God in your life?
And of course many people would say yes they are, after all God is only concerned with us being good people, but there is a reason why the gates of hell are wide and the gates of heaven are narrow. There are many people who are living their lives for themselves, and we all do it at times, Dr. J is also guilty of that, but we lives our lives for ourselves and we do not concern ourselves as much with the things God wants from us.
Now that may seem like a completely irrational thing to say. I may not have the right to say such a thing about a audience of readers I do not have the slightest clue about. But the fact of the matter is most people do live their lives not on the basis of what God wants for them but simply what they want to do out of their own selfish desire. We do not live our life by what God wants our but our own wants. We are suppose to be living our life for the glory and the kingdom of God and yet we do not care about the things he wants to have from us in our life. God has a specific plan for us one in which we are going to be successful maybe not by the standards of the world, but one which will serve and glorify the kingdom of God.
And what is troubling is a lot of people who call themselves Christians do not give God the glory which he deserves and they do not consult him on what they should do with their lives. This is because they are so focused on themselves and so focused about making sure they are living to the standards of the world that they put the things of God on the back burner. Then when life comes to a point where it seems unsatisfying to them, they blame God for it, when in reality, it is because they did not put their trust in God and followed the calling God had for them, they are in the situation they are in.
What are you living your life for? Life is never going to be perfect, even when we follow God we are going to come upon hard time in our life, there is really no question about that. But if we want to live successful life’s and life’s which have meaning what are we going to choose? What we want our what God wants? We can choose to do whatever we want in life, but if we want to have truly meaningful life’s, and if we call ourselves Christians, believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, who died on the cross for our sins and provides for us every single day we are on earth, if we want to have truly meaningful lives, then there is only one reasonable option in which we should try to strive for. We should strive for Christ. Living a life for Christ to the best ability we can. C.S. Lewis once said , “There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, "Thy will be done," and those to whom God says, "All right, then, have it your way”.
Only you can choose what you can live for and what you can strive for. But if you want to strive for something which really matters, strive for the things of God not of the world. Jesus after all tells us even though we are living in the world we are not to be of the world. Choose to strive for something which really matters. Remember, the world will come to an end one day, but God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, and forever is a quite literal term. Choose to strive for a life and things which can make a eternal impact. Choose to strive for the things of God. Or choose to strive to satisfy your own selfish desires.

Valentines Day: Is it the love or the material things?
Valentines Day, one of the days on the calendar where Hallmark suggest you should tell that special someone how much you really love someone by buying her a nice card. It is the day of the year jewelry stores suggest if you really want to show your love you will get her a nice gift, more specifically from their store. It is the day of the year candy shops stock up, because if you really love someone, you will be sure to buy their favorite candy for them.
Now some of you may be thinking the reason your being so pessimistic Dr. J, is because your one of the lonely people on a day which should be renamed Single Awareness Day. But the truth is if you did not know this, Valentines Day is indeed a commercialized holiday.
I am going to make it brief but please heed my point. There is nothing wrong with doing nice things for the people you love, in fact I would hope you would be doing it. But nice things don’t mean you have to go out and buy all this stuff. When two people are in love they should already be showing each other how much they love each other every day and it should not take a commercialized day on the calendar to do so.
Valentines day sends out the bad vibe if you love someone you will buy them something and so many people fall into that trap. Again, while it is not wrong to get your special someone something nice, why do you pick this day in particular? How often do you get something nice for them when it is not a commercialized holiday?
People, you don’t need a day on the calendar to show your love for them. Valentines day and other days like it are made by companies so you will spend your money, with lies if you don’t buy there is no love. And what is worse there are people who buy into the idea if they don’t get something then they are not loved.
What there needs to be in a true relationship is a genuine love everyday. You don’t need a day on the calendar to show your love. You should be doing it every single day and although you can treat them to something nice if you want to, there are so many ways to show your love without spending your money. If your going to be spending Valentines Day with someone, make sure it is all about the love, not the material things of trying to please your lover on a day which was set up by corporations

Johnny Pye & the Fool-Killer
Dr. J got the chance to watch an smashingly exuberant performance performed by SAU’s theatre crew entitled Johnny Pye & the Fool-Killer. The musical was not only entertaining for the witty humor, the clever performance by the cast, a interesting story line, it was also a good moral reminder about life. Dr. J applauds this phenomenal performance and thanks his friends, Trevor Tracy and Kyle Thompson and the rest of the cast, for your more than brilliant performance. I give it the Dr. J seal of approval.
And that is Dr. J’s Thought of the Day
P.S. As a reminder to the blogger nation, A special Sunday edition will be posted. Valentines Day, Commerical or Not?

Superbowl Blog
Alright sports fans, it is time for me to do my promised review of the game of the Super bowl. Being as many of the people who are going to take time to read this have probably watched it, I will try not to bore you too much by repeating things you already know.
Dr. J was very happy with the results of the game. Although he wanted to see his beloved QB, Brett Favre and Vikings play in the game, it is important to cheer for you division (and let’s face it, who does not get sick and tired of hearing about Peyton Manning this and Peyton Manning that). It was a valiant effort played by both sides, but we all watched the momentum leap out of the Colts hands as the second half started and they would never totally recover it. After the onside kick, The Saints got in a rhythm while the Colts struggled to continue playing the same level of intensity they were playing with in the first half. Dr. J’s key to the game, as those who were with Dr. J yesterday, knew from my view it was going to be about being able to get pressure on Peyton Manning. Although the Saints defense struggled with it during the first half, they really got going in the second half, which would lead Peyton to throw an INT. Though the Colts still showed they would continue to play competitive, it would be the Saints, who appearing in the super bowl for the very first time, would beat the who most considered favorite Colts.
Although the Colts are a dominating team, this example needs to remind sports fans of something. Anything can happen on any given day. Now the Saints obviously are not some schlock team, they are after all the Champions (and no, we will be lucky if we see the Lions in the playoffs in a few decades, let alone having a super bowl appearance sometime this century). But the high and mighty Colts took a tumble to the Saints. And all one can do, is join the chorus rising from Bourbon Street has they celebrate until the start of next football season. If you would like to make Peyton feel better, send him a message. If you want a chuckle, make sure you have The Saints Go Marching on in the background.
And that is Dr. J’s thought of the Day. The next addition will probably be on whether or not Valentines is really a day to show your true love, or is it just simply another day in which people buy into another commercialized Hallmark special. As always I would love to hear your opinions and would also love to hear your ideas for future blog posts. It can be practically on any topic you want, I want to be able to satisfy readers , so if you have any suggestions, leave it in the comment box or email at WolverineFan001@hotmail.com . Thanks for reading.

Congrats Kurt Classen!!
A while ago, Dr. J wrote a tribute to a man, known as the great Kurt Merlin Classen, which is exclusive for friends of the man behind Dr. J and the Spring Arbor network. Last night though, this illustrious man once again proved why he is one of the best at the things he does. When competing in the Michigan Intercollegiate Speech League (MISL), this man achieved 2nd place in the MISL Novice State Championship ADS division. Now some of you out there in the Dr. J nation may wonder why I chose to write about the second place instead of the first. Well firstly, anyone who knows the Great Kurt Classen knows he really is the one who deserves first place. But more importantly, when a person is able to achieve that type of honor, that impressive of an accomplishment, it is only befitting he gets some type of recognition for his valiant effort, even if it is in the form of a meager post like this. Talent like that is simply natural. And the man is only going to get better. To come in second place in a place where you got so many people competing is an amazing thing. And therefore, it is on this note in which I once again, give my great friend, the great Kurt Classen a thunderous applause and a mighty congratulation. It was an impressive accomplishment, and Dr. J is not only very proud, but also very happy for his friend.
