New Valentines Day note

Valentine’s Day is suppose to be a day about love. A day in which we show those who we care about they are special. How do we do this? By buying them stuff. It has become yet another Hallmark holiday and nothing more. And it sickens me so many people buy into it. Do you really need a day out of the year set aside for an excuse to show someone how much you care? If you honestly do care and think they are special, you will be letting them know every day. I am not trying to say it is wrong to do something nice for the one you love today, but don't let it be simply for the fact you are compelled to buy into this materialistic holiday. Don't buy the special someone a gift because if you don't you are going to get an earful. Valentine’s Day, whatever it was suppose to be originally, is no longer the case for most people the way they tend to practice it. For most, it is merely about equating love with buying someone material possessions. Don't buy into it. If you love someone, this day in reality should be like most days. If you truly love someone, you do not need a day on the calendar as an excuse to shower them with love.
